Louisville beats Florida State 31-28 on Blanton Creque field goal with five seconds remaining

A tied game in Tallahassee between Louisville and Florida State ended with a stirring last-second victory for the Cardinals and the Seminoles’ most crushing loss of the season thus far.

It started with 2:05 left and the Seminoles at the Cardinals 21, looking to get a touchdown or a field goal to move ahead. But James Blackman lost the ball on a botched handoff, giving it to the Cardinals with plenty of time for them to drive down the field and win it.

That’s exactly what happened. Thanks to accurate passing by Lamar Jackson and timely running by Reggie Bonnafon, the Cardinals marched down to the Florida State 17. That would leave things to Blanton Creque, whose 34-yard field goal with five seconds left would stand as the game winner to break the Cardinals’ two game losing streak.

With the win, the Cardinals improved to 5-3 (2-3 ACC). Florida State fell to 2-4 (2-3 ACC) on the season.
