All is fair game in an SEC rivalry. Even lovable mascots.
Popular Auburn mascot “Aubie” found that out the hard way on Friday night.
According to a Tweet from Auburn site WarBlogle.com, Louisiana-based brewery Abita is playing dirty with the mascot by handing out slanderous t-shirts in Baton Rouge on the eve of a key SEC West matchup between the schools.
The shirt, predictably printed in LSU colors, reads “Aubie drinks wine coolers.”
Awful stuff, right?

The meeting between LSU and Auburn should have a major impact on the SEC West race. For LSU, it is an elimination game of sorts with a loss to Mississippi State already on the books.
For Auburn, it’s a game that the Tigers must have to keep College Football Playoff hopes alive. With a game against Alabama remaining on the schedule and an unbeaten mark in league play thus far, Auburn still would likely be able to contend for the division title even if they slip in Baton Rouge.
The game is set for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff and will be televised on CBS.
