Lots of people made popular Tua Tagovailoa joke as Villanova built big lead against Alabama

The legend of Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa remains strong during the NCAA Tournament.

On Saturday, Alabama faced Villanova in East Region play in Pittsburgh. After only trailing 32-27 at halftime, the Crimson Tide saw the top-seeded Wildcats open a comfortable double-digit lead in the second half. The sight wasn’t pretty if you’re an Alabama fan.

Of course, Nick Saban’s move to put in Tagovailoa in the second half of the National Championship Game against Georgia in January was on the mind of many Twitter users as the deficit for the Crimson Tide’s basketball team grew larger. Tagovailoa, a freshman, led Alabama back from a 13-point halftime hole to claim the Crimson Tide’s fifth national title under Saban.

We’ve collected a few of the many Tagovailoa-related jokes made Saturday below:

Count on this trend continuing as long as memories of Tagovailoa’s stellar play against the Bulldogs remain fresh. You’ll remember that many Twitter users made this Tagovailoa joke as the New England Patriots trailed early against the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 52. So this Tagovailoa joke has staying power, apparently.

Blame Georgia’s defense if you’re getting tired of seeing “put in Tua” flood your Twitter feed.
