Lamar Jackson wasn’t able to repeat as the Heisman Trophy winner this season but the Louisville quarterback showed after the ceremony why he’s a first-class citizen.

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield won the 2017 Heisman Trophy in a three-man field that also included Stanford’s Bryce Love and last season’s winner Jackson.

In the voting, Mayfield came out on top with 2,398 points, while Love finished second with 1,300 points and Jackson was third with 793 points.

This season as Louisville has posted an 8-4 record, Jackson has passed for 3,489 yards and 25 touchdowns while rushing for 1,443 yards and 17 touchdowns.

During his 2016 Heisman season in which Louisville went 9-4, Jackson passed for 3,543 yards and 30 touchdowns while rushing for 1,571 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Jackson was gracious afterwards to the latest winner of the prized award.

What a classy gesture by Jackson.

The junior quarterback will guide Louisville vs. Mississippi State on Dec. 30 in the TaxSlayer Bowl.
