INTRUST Bank Arena might want to consider changing its name to Allen Fieldhouse West.

Kansas Jayhawks fans took over the arena based in Wichita, Kan., on Wednesday for Kansas’ open practice ahead of the NCAA Tournament.

While not all spectators were Kansas fans, INTRUST Bank Arena reports 13,695 fans showed up for the open practice session.

13,695 fans. Not a game. But for a practice.

The turnout, while not surprising, should be a good indication of the environment on Thursday when the top-seed Kansas Jayhawks face No. 16-seed Penn in the Round of 64.

The Jayhawks will face the Quakers at 2 p.m. ET, Thursday, and will get the winner of No. 8 seed-Seton Hall and No. 9-seed North Carolina State on Saturday if they survive against Penn.

The Jayhawks also have a chance to play the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 not far from Lawrence, Kan.

Kansas landed in the Omaha, Neb., region, which will likely draw a big Rock Chalk crowd.
