LOOK: Former Vols QB coach Mike Canales publishes classy goodbye message to Tennessee fans

Mike Canales offered a classy goodbye to Tennessee fans.

On Sunday, the former Vols quarterbacks coach used Twitter to publish a message of thanks to Volunteers fans. With the coaching changes in Knoxville, Canales has seen his time on Rocky Top come to an end. Canales joined Butch Jones’ staff at Tennessee in January.

Of course, Jones was fired before the end of the most recent season, and Tennessee athletic director Phillip Fulmer hired Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt to lead the Vols into a new era.

Most of the time, attention is given to head coaches during regime changes. But a moment like this shows how the families of assistants are affected during this stretch. Many people are beginning new chapters in the weeks ahead.

On Friday, Bret Bloomquist of the El Paso Times reported that Canales will be UTEP’s offensive coordinator.
