AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn defensive lineman Jeff Holland will likely always want to remember his 2017 season on The Plains.
Whether it was his traumatizing takedowns of SEC quarterbacks or his ceremonial bow and “Sensei Mud” persona, Holland distinguished himself as one of the Tigers’ and the conference’s best defenders.
In the weeks following the regular season, Holland commemorated his junior year with an awesome tattoo that he showcased on his Instagram. The tattoo features a majestic eagle, a roaring tiger and of course, Sensei Mud himself mid-bow. It also includes the Chinese characters Holland wore on a headband throughout the season.

In early October, Holland explained that he’d worked with a “mixed martial arts guy earlier in the year. The learned techniques helped him take his game to a new level on the football field — leaving SEC quarterbacks running for their lives.
“I got kind of good with it, and I kept doing it,” Holland said. “Guys started calling me ‘Sensei Mud.’ … I’ve been rolling with it all season.”

Holland was named an All-SEC first-team selection by the Associated Press after ranking second in sacks in the conference (9.0). The junior also finished with 43 total tackles (12.0 for loss), 4 forced fumbles and 22 quarterback hurries.
Auburn takes on Central Florida in the Peach Bowl. The two teams will meet in the Peach Bowl on Jan. 1.
