Live updates: What head coach Gus Malzahn said ahead of Auburn’s trip to LSU

AUBURN, Ala. — Baton Rouge has not welcomed the Auburn Tigers with open arms this century.

The last time Auburn traveled to Tiger Stadium it was embarrassed by Leonard Fournette and the rest of the Bayou Bengals. And things haven’t been much better in a while. Since 1999 to be exact. That’s the last time Auburn pulled off a win over LSU.

Gus Malzahn’s team moved into the top 10 with its win over Ole Miss on the Plains last weekend, and will try to stay in that group with a road win this weekend.

The importance of this matchup has shifted dramatically since early September. It looked like Auburn’s second trip to a Death Valley would be one of its most important games of 2017, until LSU was throttled by Mississippi State. A beatdown by Troy on LSU’s home field didn’t help matters.

Yet Ed Orgeron’s group seems to have woken up a little bit with a recent win over Florida. This is going to be a critical weekend for both Tiger teams.

Follow along here to see what Gus Malzahn says about this weekend’s away game.
