LeGarrette Blount signs on with the Detroit Lions

It was one year, but it was a heck of a year for LeGarrette Blount and the Philadelphia Eagles. In his first and only season in Philadelphia, Blount ran for 766 yards and two touchdowns, including 90 yards and a score in a Super Bowl win over his former team, the New England Patriots.

And now the Eagles have been added to Blount’s growing list of former teams. On Friday, Blount, a standout at Oregon, signed a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions, which the NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport reported to be worth $4.5 million.

Blount is following former New England defensive coordinator Matt Patricia, who was hired as the Detroit head coach in February. Blount joins Ameer Abdullah, Theo Riddick, and Zack Zenner in the Lion backfield.

While at Oregon, Blount ran for 1,084 yards and 19 touchdowns.
