While many had picked Virginia to go to win the national championship, Lane Kiffin is claiming that he was actually one of the very, very few to pick UMBC to upset the Cavaliers in the 2018 NCAA Tournament.
Kiffin posted a screen shot on Twitter Friday night after UMBC knocked off Virginia that he had UMBC advancing to the Sweet 16, where it would play Kentucky. He also appears to have had Texas winning along with Georgia State, in an attempt to make the bracket look authentic. However it’s worth pointing out that the bracket Kiffin printed out had the 4 teams that played on Thursday already into the second round, making it highly likely that this bracket was filled out after UMBC beat Virginia.
The tweet was also sent out after the game had gone final.

The UMBC win is historic, as it is the first time ever that a No. 1 seed, let alone the No. 1 overall seed has lost to a No. 16 seed. Virginia entered the tournament as the regular season and postseason champion of the ACC and had a historically great defense.
The loss means that the No. 1 and No. 4 seeds in the South region have been eliminated. Two of the highest remaining seeds in the South region are SEC teams, as No. 3 Tennessee and No. 5 Kentucky both advanced to the second round. Kentucky takes on Buffalo and Tennessee plays Loyola-Chicago.
As for Kiffin, it appears that he had Georgia state going to the Elite Eight, and beating Tennessee, his former employer. So like the rest of America, it appears that his bracket is not doing too hot.
