Lane Kiffin is known to like to have a little fun on social media.
That trend continued Friday night, as Kiffin had some fun with his former Alabama colleague Kirby Smart, now the head coach at Georgia. On Twitter, Kiffin cited Smart’s helicopter trip to see no. 1 overall 2018 prospect Justin Fields, essentially saying that Smart was copying an idea he first had while the coach at Tennessee:

Back when Kiffin was leading the Vols, he apparently pulled a similar stunt for then-Alabama commit Ja’Wuan James. Evidently, the move worked, as James ultimately flipped to the Vols and became a first-round draft pick by the Miami Dolphins.
However, Smart may have the last laugh here. He won’t have to do any worrying about getting Fields to flip: he’s already a Georgia commit.
