Kirk Herbstreit awed by Penn State White Out: ‘What a scene’

ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit has mentioned many times previously how much he’s impressed by Penn State students. He’s called the student section the best in the country more than a couple of times.

But on Saturday night, Nittany Lions fans might have found a new level, as they set a Beaver Stadium-attendance record in No. 2 Penn State’s 42-13 rout of No. 19 Michigan. The Nittany Lions announced an attendance of 110,823.

Herbstreit called the game on ABC. On Sunday, Herbstreit shared video from his view.

That includes him shooting video of the crowd loudly singing along to “Sweet Caroline.”

“What a scene last night at Penn State!!!!!”

Herbstreit also shot video from the booth as Penn State and Michigan made their way to the field.

Also on Sunday, Herbstreit tweeted out his new personal rankings. Though Alabama was again No. 1, Penn State held strong at No. 2 after the Nittany Lions routed Michigan.

  1. Alabama
  2. Penn State
  3. Georgia
  4. TCU

Penn State will have plenty of more opportunities to impress Herbstreit. Up next, the Nittany Lions travel to Ohio State for a huge Big Ten East showdown. Last year, Penn State knocked off the Buckeyes, 24-21, in the 2016 White Out game.

This year, the Nittany Lions have the higher ranking for the game, though both will be in the Top 10.
