LEXINGTON, Ky. — After Kentucky lost to Mississippi State 45-7 on Saturday, Kentucky senior receiver Blake Bone and junior linebacker Denzil Ware made waves on social media with critical posts.

“Of course we want it to stay in house,” Mark Stoops said on Monday of the social media activity. “We’ll get it corrected. Very easy fix. We had a discussion yesterday. We’ll talk about it as a team today and it’ll be gone.”

Bone posted a video on Snapchat that took a shot at Kentucky’s offensive game plan.

“I feel like if we threw the rock, we would be un******* stoppable,” Bone said. Cats quarterback Stephen Johnson was sitting next to Bone in the video. Johnson attempted a career-high 36 passes against Missouri on Oct. 7.

Stoops, without directly referencing Bone’s video, debunked the suggestion that Kentucky should throw the ball more. He noted that Kentucky is 9-1 in its last 18 games when it outrushes the opponent. The Cats are 3-5 when we don’t. Stoops then said that 80 percent of SEC games are won when an opponent outrushes another by one yard.

“We’re not built to drop back and throw the ball all over the yard,” Stoops said Monday.

Ware’s frustration after the game was taken out on former Kentucky walk-on Max Godby, who criticized Cats linebacker Jordan Jones at one point. Godby’s initial tweet has since been deleted, but Ware’s tweets are still up.

Godby issued an apology on Twitter.

Stoops said he’d spend more time than usual on Monday when addressing the team.

“I could very easily go with my gut five minutes before a meeting,” Stoops said. “I don’t know. I don’t want to say – That’s just been my philosophy through all the years. There’s always some calculated messages in there as well. Definitely spent a little bit more time.”

Kentucky and Tennessee kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET Saturday at Kroger Field.
