KaVontae Turpin earned Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week honors for his performance against Kansas in Week 8.

Turpin received the award after he had a jaw-dropping 90-yard touchdown return for a touchdown against the Jayhawks.

TCU coach Gary Patterson said earlier this season that the Frogs needed to create more opportunities for Turpin in the return game.

“We’ve got to do a better job with our punt return group to get him more chances,” Patterson said. “We haven’t been able to get him released yet. So we’ve got to find a way to do that. … He’s too much of a weapon not to be giving him more chances.”

 Mission accomplished.

Turpin now has 3 punt return touchdowns in his collegiate career, with two of them coming against Kansas. He is tied him with Linzy Cole and Blanard Spearman for the school record.

With another season and a half of eligibility, he has a great chance of breaking that mark. And you know he’ll look stylish doing it. Long live Turpin Time.
