Kansas-TCU: Time, TV channel, watch online for Week 8 game (October 21, 2017)

Kansas and TCU are set to square off in a Week 8 Big 12 showdown on Saturday, October 21, 2017.

The Jayhawks haven’t savored the sweet taste of victory since opening week and the odds aren’t in their favor to finally do so once again on Saturday against No. 4 TCU.

Meanwhile, the Horned Frogs have slowly, but surely climbed from outside of the top-25 to begin the season although to their current positioning at No. 4, and their sights are now set on a College Football Playoff berth.

So yeah, Saturday’s Big 12 meeting will feature two teams at complete opposite ends of the college football totem poll, and the outcome is expected to reflect that accordingly. TCU enters as a 38.5-point favorite.

Kansas-TCU preview, keys to the game

Make it a low-scoring affair

When you’re giving up an average of 55.3 points per game in Big 12 play and an average of 50.6 points per game throughout the last five appearances, games aren’t often going to end in your favor.

Not surprisingly, games haven’t and the Jayhawks sit at 1-5 entering the second half of the season. Now pitted against TCU, Kansas may not get upwards of 50 points poured on its defense, and considering the Horned Frogs bread and butter is their defense, the Jayhawks couldn’t keep up if it came to that, anyway. To have a chance at a mammoth upset, the Jayhawks will need to make this a fairly low-scoring affair. The good news is they’ve done just that against TCU as of late.

Just stay close and see what happens

For whatever reason, TCU — no matter how good it is — has had issues with Kansas in recent years. Dating back to 2014, the Horned Frogs have won their three meetings with the Jayhawks by a combined 11 points, and a single extra Kansas touchdown could have meant victory in 2014 and 2015, while a missed last-second field goal could have done the trick last season.

The Jayhawks have been that close to pulling off the massive upset in recent years and if Kansas can somehow keep this close down the stretch once again, who knows what could happen.

Pray to the football gods

When you’re a 38.5-point underdog on the road and haven’t won away from home in your last 43 tries, which is the longest streak in college football, sometimes all you can do is pray. Sure, upsets happen, but any way you slice is, this Kansas team will be considerably overmatched on Saturday.
