Bill Self has coached the Kansas basketball to 13 straight Big 12 crowns. He wouldn’t be surprised if TCU ended that run.
Self had plenty of praise for the Horned Frogs and coach Jamie Dixon at Tuesday’s Big 12 Media Day in Kansas City, Mo., per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Carlos Mendez. That praise included Self saying Dixon’s squad could win the Big 12.
“Their team has a chance to win our league this year,” Self said. “They’re good.”
Self’s Jayhawks were ranked first in the conference’s preseason poll, with TCU coming in third. The Horned Frogs won the NIT in Dixon’s first year with the program after a successful tenure with Pitt.
The Horned Frogs return all five starters from last year’s team.
“I don’t think TCU basketball is going to take a step backward,” Self said. “We all take steps sideways sometimes based on personnel and things that go on. But TCU is going to be a force in our league for as long as he’s there.”
