COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State got some good recruiting news Tuesday when Kamryn Babb pledged to the Buckeyes.

Babb, a 4-star wide receiver from St. Louis Christian Brothers, announced his commitment in a video he posted to Twitter. He is the second wide receiver commit for the Buckeyes in the Class of 2018, joining Dayton (Ohio) Dunbar 4-star L’Christian “Blue” Smith. Babb’s commitment also increased Ohio State’s lead as the No. 1 class in the 247Sports composite team rankings.

The Buckeyes have been considered the favorite to land Babb for much of his recruitment. He had offers from a slew of top schools, including Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Iowa, LSU, Miami (Fla.), Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas, UCLA, USC and Wisconsin.

This fall, however, he only officially visited Ohio State, coming to Columbus for the Buckeyes’ 39-38 come-from-behind win against Penn State.

He also visited the Buckeyes this summer and came away impressed with what he saw.

“It was not really a recruiting visit,” Babb told Land of 10. “I just wanted to see the campus, and I wasn’t involved with the football program that day, it was pretty much all academic.

“I took a tour of the place and then spent just some time with Urban Meyer and [Buckeyes wide receivers coach] Zach Smith about what Ohio State has to offer outside of football. They had a camp going on, but I was just trying to see the place and what they have to offer me with my family. I’m doing that with a couple schools.”

Babb missed his senior season with an ACL injury, but his progress from that setback has been encouraging. In October, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch spoke to him about his rehab.

“All the same schools that were talking to me before the injury are still talking to me. . . . So I’m just taking one day at a time, giving them an update on my rehab,” he said. “It’s going pretty good. Nothing’s changed.”
