The UCLA basketball team saw an early exit to its March, with a knockout in the play-in game to St. Bonaventure. But the football madness, which began when Chip Kelly was hired in November, promises to continue through at least the NFL Draft, and very likely for some time after that.
On Thursday, Josh Rosen, UCLA’s prized quarterback for the previous three seasons, held his pro day, and according to Sports Illustrated’s Bruce Feldman, who was in attendance, 75 NFL staffers were expected to observe Rosen go through his workout.
This is not much of a surprise. He finished a brilliant, though injury-filled, career in Westwood with 59 touchdowns and just shy of 10,000 yards. Even prior to UCLA, Rosen, a standout at St. John Bosco, was considered a presumptive first round draft pick. Now it’s simply a matter of where in the first round he is taken. And there will be 75 people who have a better idea of when that is after Thursday.
