Joel Berry moves past Michael Jordan on North Carolina’s all-time scoring list

Joel Berry-Michael Jordan-North Carolina-NCAA Tournament

Any time your name is mentioned in the same breath as His Airness you know you’ve climbed towards an impressive milestone.

With a 3-pointer in the second half of North Carolina’s first round NCAA Tournament matchup against Lipscomb, senior point guard Joel Berry passed Michael Jordan for 13th place in the program’s all-time scoring list.

Berry has increased his scoring average in each of his four seasons (4.2, 12.8, 14.7, 17.1) with the Tar Heels.

Berry (2017 title) can also climb past MJ (1982 title) in national championships if North Carolina cuts down the nets this season.

Jordan left North Carolina after his junior year and went on to win six NBA championships and NBA Finals MVPs apiece with the Chicago Bulls.

While Berry might not be bound for that legendary amount of pro success, it’s still pretty neat to see his name ahead of the man many deem as the G.O.A.T.
