Joe Hedstrom commits to Wisconsin: Badgers get 6-foot-10 center

Wisconsin basketball added some depth on Wednesday night in the form of 2018 center Joe Hedstrom, according to the Wisconsin State Journal and Ryan James of Prep Hoops.

The 6-foot-10, 200-pound recruit is reportedly on a 4-for-5 offer, which means he’d be a walk-on in his first year before earning a scholarship for his final four.

According to 247Sports, he’s a 3-star recruit, though there is no composite for Hedstrom.

The Hopkins, Minnesota native also had offers from Utah, North Dakota and Boise State, among others.

“Coach Gard thinks the opportunity there is unparalleled with the academics and basketball success,” Hedstrom told Evan Flood of earlier in the year. “He thinks it’s a great opportunity. He said, ‘I know I’m a little biased, but I think this is the best option for you. If you come here, work hard, the sky is the limit. That can really set you up for life.’ “
