On Feb. 10, it was reported that Jim McElwain was a strong candidate to become Michigan’s wide receivers coach.

Fast forward to Feb. 16 and that rumor is more than just gaining steam. Here’s what Bruce Feldman had to say:

Not only has the former Florida coach been offered the wide receivers coaching job at Michigan, but it could eventually include a role as the offensive coordinator with the Wolverines.

If those details are correct, it’s only a matter of time before McElwain is officially hired. Going from fired to potentially becoming the offensive coordinator under Jim Harbaugh would be a welcomed rebound for the former Gators man in charge.

What would happen to Tim Drevno — the team’s current offensive coordinator? That remains to be seen.

McElwain, though, appears to be in prime position to take over the reins of the Wolverines offense.
