Jayhawks fans celebrate outright title as Kansas’ Big 12 dominance continues

Kansas Fans-Kansas Jayhawks-Celebrate-Big 12 Championship

Kansas men’s basketball clinched the outright Big 12 regular-season title on Monday with an 80-70 win over Texas.

The Jayhawks have claimed the conference crown an incredible 14 straight seasons. Kansas already clinched at least a share of the title with a 74-72 win at Texas Tech on Saturday, but the triumph at Allen Fieldhouse guaranteed that there wouldn’t be any sharing for the Jayhawks to do as coach Bill Self added yet another chapter to his legacy in Lawrence, Kan.

Kansas fans took to Twitter to celebrate the accomplishment following the game — even if was nothing short of usual expectations for many. With the Big 12 as deep as it was this season, however, it was no simple task for the Jayhawks to extend the streak for yet another year.

That’s a whole lot of trophies in one place. And it’s nothing short of remarkable.

Kansas is 24-6 overall following the win. The Jayhawks close out the regular season at Oklahoma State on Saturday at 3 p.m. CT. The Cowboys won the previous meeting between the teams in Lawrence earlier in February.
