Sean Miller’s job is on the thinest of ice. One ESPN analyst believes the ice is about to be permanently broken.
“This is a career-ending thing for Sean Miller,” Jay Bilas said on ESPN’s College GameDay. “I can’t imagine him ever coaching again.”
The Arizona coach was captured on an FBI wiretap discussing paying $100,000 to ensure the signing of star recruit Deandre Ayton. Miller’s name came as the latest bombshell in the pay-for-play scandal and FBI investigation that was first reported by Yahoo Sports.
Arizona is on the clock. The Wildcats play the Oregon Ducks on Saturday at 10:15 p.m. ET. The university is expected to make a decision on the statuses of Miller and Ayton before tipoff.
Arizona can clinch part of the Pac-12 regular season title with a win. Although with the dark cloud hovering over the program many have stated that Miller should immediately take at leave a leave of absence and Ayton shouldn’t play until the investigation concludes. In totality, that means Ayton might not dribble a basketball again for the Wildcats and Miller’s days in Tucson could be over.
