James Franklin surprises Penn State fan on FaceTime with Michigan tickets

Penn State fan Eric Grossberg acknowledged he made a crazy request when he met James Franklin on Thursday night. While getting his picture taken with Penn State’s coach, Grossberg asked Franklin if he knew anyone he could ask for tickets to Saturday night’s white out clash against Michigan.

Turns out Grossberg asked the right guy.

Friday afternoon, Franklin surprised the Penn State fan with a FaceTime call and told him he had two tickets waiting for him for Saturday night’s game. Franklin noted that the tickets were in the section with coaches wives and families so Grossberg would have to be on his best behavior.

Grossberg, who initially met Franklin at the State College Primanti Bros. following the coach’s radio show, posted a Facebook status with video of the call:

So I met James Franklin and he FaceTimed me to send us tickets tomorrow! I sound like a crazy fan haha but check out the video. We are! Thanks coach!! We'll be there ready to be loud tomorrow for the white out! Beat Michigan #107kstrong

“I saw the FaceTime and I knew it was Franklin,” Grossberg told Land of 10. “He’s the man. Super nice guy.”

Grossberg and his brother, who is taking the other ticket, will be two of more than 107,000 fans crammed into Beaver Stadium for the top-20 showdown Saturday night. Franklin has a strict dress code set up for Penn State fans in attendance.

Friday was not the first time the Penn State coach has made a call to a fan with good news. Franklin reached out to a Penn State fan last year and surprised him by telling him he had Rose Bowl tickets.
