James Franklin shares message about graduating Penn State players

A handful of Penn State football players will trade in their helmets for graduation caps this Saturday. Seventeen players from the Nittany Lions roster are graduating this weekend, according to a press release. Coach James Franklin praised them in a tweet.

“Proud of these men! Winners on & off the field! #WeAre #STUDENTAthletes” Franklin wrote. He also included a picture with most of the graduating players.

Among the graduates this weekend are Mark Allen, Curtis Cothran, Parker Cothren, Koa Farmer, DaeSean Hamilton, Andrew Nelson and Brandon Smith.

“It’s our job, No. 1, to make sure that our players get a great education,” Franklin said on Friday. “It’s our job to make sure our guys have a great athletic experience and hopefully have an opportunity to play here in the NFL.”

No. 9 Penn State, which went 10-2 in the regular season, faces Washington in the Fiesta Bowl on Dec. 30.
