Iowa State’s recent surge has helped them attract defensive end Will McDonald from Waukesa (Wisc.) North High School in the Cyclones’ 2018 class.

McDonald, a raw 6-foot-5, 215-pounder, played weakside defensive end in high school. He had unofficially committed to the Cyclones back in February. After two unofficial visits during the season, he made his official trip over the weekend.
His other offer came from New Mexico.
Iowa State coaches are intrigued with McDonald, a late bloomer who started playing organized football two seasons ago. They believe he can grow and develop his frame, which has a 6-foot-9 wingspan, according to 247 Sports.com.
Iowa State currently is listed No. 56 nationally in the latest 247 Sports.com composite. They are eighth in the Big 12, ahead of Kansas State and Kansas.
