The Iowa State Class of 2018 took a hit on Monday when defensive back V’Lique Carter flipped his commitment and declared for the Pittsburgh Panthers.

Carter, a 3-star DB from Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, Fla., announced his decision on Twitter.

Carter is listed as a safety, stands 5-foot-10 and weighs in at 170 pounds, according to 247Sports. He had originally committed to Iowa State on November 15.

After Carter’s flip, the Cyclones now have the eighth best recruiting class in the Big 12. Iowa State still has a safety in the Class of 2018 in 3-star recruit Greg Elsworth.

The early signing period begins Wednesday. For a more in-depth look at the Cyclones’ class, visit our database.
