Iowa State star freshman Lindell Wigginton was named Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Week after an incredible performance against West Virginia on Saturday.

Wigginton scored 29 points against the Mountaineers in an 85-70 loss in Morgantown, one point shy of tying his collegiate career high. He also added 4 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal. He shares Newcomer of the Week honors with Kansas’ Malik Newman.

The freshman from Canada is the leading scorer for the Cyclones this season at 16.4 points per game on 40.6 percent shooting and 40.5 percent from 3-point range. He’s also averaging 3.7 rebounds and 3 assists.

Wigginton will try to help the Cyclones finish the season on a more positive note this week after losing four straight games and six of their last seven. Iowa State hosts Oklahoma State on Tuesday, then will go on the road to play Oklahoma on Friday.
