He’s done it.
As a true freshman, Iowa’s Spencer Lee won the national title on Saturday at 125 pounds over Rutgers’ Nick Suriano, 5-1.
Lee was the nation’s top recruit in 2017 and his first season as a Hawkeye showed exactly why. He’s a dominant force in the collegiate wrestling world and he’s only just getting started.
Lee was 21-2 going into the final, while Suriano was a perfect 25-0.
Here are the final moments of Lee’s victory in the finals:

Going back to his career in high school, Lee won every single match he competed in except for one. That one defeat came on a torn ACL.
In January of this year, Lee burned his redshirt to start competing with the Hawkeyes. Looking back at it now, we all approve of that decision.
