Time to smile

Linebacker Josey Jewell and cornerback Josh Jackson need to prepare for their portraits. By being named to The Associated Press and Football Writers Association of American All-America first teams, the duo earned consensus All-American status, ensuring their portraits will hang in the Hansen Center. A lack of New York fever

How are ticket sales going in Iowa for the Dec. 27 Pinstripe Bowl? Slow, especially when you remove the tickets already allocated for university staffers, their families and players. It’s the latest sign that New York City likely wasn’t the best bowl destination to send the Hawkeyes to play in.

No passing on bowl

Could Iowa have turned down the Pinstripe Bowl invitation? Not really, because it’s a Big Ten-affiliated bowl. Land of 10 explains why the Hawkeyes had to accept the invitation.

Iowa commits Tyrone Tracey Jr. and Samson Evans were named the Gatorade Football Player of the Year in their respective states on Monday. For the running back Tracey Jr., it’s Indiana. For the 3-star athlete Evans, it’s Illinois. They can compare trophies, awards and honors they have received when they arrive on campus in the summer.

They’re back

All the Iowa women’s basketball team needed to do to make it into The Associated Press Top 25 was win 10 of its first 11 games. Matthew Bain of the Des Moines Register discusses the Hawkeyes sliding in at No. 25 in the latest poll.
