According to a report from 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins, Class of 2018 wide receiver Will Huggins is bound for Miami this spring.
Huggins, a native of California who attends IMG Academy, accepted a preferred walk-on spot from the Hurricanes on Tuesday over similar offers from Stanford and Vanderbilt.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Huggins had two receptions for 19 yards this season as mostly a backup behind players such as like fellow Miami wide receiver commit Brian Hightower.
Huggins, who has a 4.6 GPA, plans to enter Miami’s 4+1 engineering program and earn a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in addition to a masters in mechanical or aerospace engineering.

In other walk-on news, InsideTheU has learned that Riverview offensive lineman Moose Griffith is expected to take an official visit to Miami at some point in January. The 6-4, 308-pound guard holds a few Group of 5 and Ivy League offers, but is considering a walk-on opportunity at UM after visiting Hard Rock Stadium for the Notre Dame game last month. The Hurricanes will also host Clay James this weekend for an official visit. The Cocoa long snapper committed to Miami as a preferred walk-on back in July but is expected to earn a scholarship in a year or two once Jordan Butler graduates.
For the Class of 2018, Miami is currently No. 1 in the ACC and No. 3 in the nation.
