How Alabama’s commitments fared in their high school games: Week 8

A day before the Alabama football team beat Tennessee in Tuscaloosa on Saturday, future members of the Crimson Tide took the field for Week 8 of Friday nights under the lights.

Alabama currently has 11 commitments in its 2018 recruiting class and three in its 2019 group. Members of both classes enjoyed memorable performances this weekend.

SEC Country will provide weekly updates on each Alabama commitment, including statistics and highlights when available.

Here’s what went down Week 8 (Oct. 20 -22):

2018 commits

Jalyn Armour-Davis, 4-star CB, St. Paul’s Episcopal (Mobile, Ala.)

Jalyn Armour-Davis sat out of his team’s game this past Friday night because of a minor knee injury. St. Paul’s dropped its first game of the season after losing 27-20 to Vigor.

Jarrett Bell, 3-star C/G, Norco (Calif.)

Norco defeated Santiago 56-42 and is now 5-3 on the season. Norco racked up 598 yards on offense.

Slade Bolden, 3-star ATH, West Monroe (La.) 

Slade Bolden continues to ball out, leading West Monroe to a 63-10 win over Pineville. In the win, Bolden had 150 passing yards and 2 touchdowns. He also rushed 4 times for 22 yards.

Tommy Brown, 4-star T, Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.)

No. 1 Mater Dei continues to blow out its opponents. The Monarchs defeated JSerra Catholic 45-3.

Jordan Davis, 4-star Jack, Southwind (Memphis, Tenn.)

Southwind lost a shootout to Brighton 69-50 and is now 6-3 on the season. Jordan Davis had 10 tackles, including 4 for a loss, 2 sacks, a blocked punt and a forced fumble.

Skyler Delong, 3-star P, Nation Ford (Fort Mill, S.C.)

Skyler Delong came up clutch for Nation Ford on Friday. Delong drilled a last-second 42-yard field goal to give Nation Ford a 20-17 win over Northwestern.

Vernon Jackson, 3-star ATH, Boling (Texas)

Vernon Jackson carried Boling to a 55-21 win over Brazos High School. Jackson rushed for 241 yards and 3 touchdowns on 18 carries.

Cameron Latu, 4-star Jack, Olympus (Salt Lake City)

Olympus was on a bye week.

Quay Walker, 4-star LB, Crisp County (Cordele, Ga.)

Crisp County defeated Cook High School 31-7 to move to 6-1 on the season.

Xavier Williams, 4-star WR, Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, Fla.)

Chaminade-Madonna defeated Doral Academy Prep 41-5.

Stephon Wynn Jr., 4-star DE, IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.)

No. 2 IMG Academy defeated Salt Lake City East 43-19.

2019 commits

Deyavie Hammond, 4-star G, IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.)

No. 2 IMG Academy defeated Salt Lake City East 43-19.

Pierce Quick, 4-star OT, Hewitt-Trussville (Trussville, Ala.)

Hewitt-Trussville defeated Huntsville 45-3. The Huskies had 544 yards on offense.

Trey Sanders, 4-star RB, IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.)

Trey Sanders rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown in IMG Academy’s 43-19 win.
