New York grand jury subpoenas Oklahoma State

As a result of the news former Oklahoma State associate head coach Lamont Evans reportedly accepted at least $22,000 in bribes to direct players toward certain advisers, a New York grand jury, searching for NCAA rule violations, has subpoenaed Oklahoma State.

Among the items being sought are text messages, social media messages, computer records, Evans’ personnel file, and all documents and communications pertaining to financial aid for all current student-athletes on Oklahoma State’s men’s basketball team. The subpoena also demands the records of all communication between the athletics staff and the parents of current members of the team.

CBS Sports puts Mason Rudolph No. 1 in latest mock draft

Oklahoma State quarterback Mason Rudolph has drawn plenty of Heisman hype this season, and that hype is now steering toward his NFL Draft stock. CBS Sports projected the Cleveland Browns will take Rudolph with the first-overall pick in next year’s NFL Draft.

Rudolph has thrown for 1,909 yards and 16 touchdowns through five games. He’ll add to those numbers Saturday against Baylor, the only Big 12 team he hasn’t beaten.

Other headlines from the program:

  • Rudolph is one of the 20 quarterbacks on the watch list for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, given annually to the best fourth-year college quarterback.
  • Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield said he would be “disappointed” if he didn’t see his mugshot for an offseason arrest at Boone Pickens Stadium when the Sooners face Oklahoma State on Nov. 4.
  • Redshirt sophomore offensive guard Johnny Wilson is “crazy in the head,” Rudolph said. Wilson said he thrives on the fear of the man across from him.

Kaylee Jensen named to Preseason All-Big 12 Team

Oklahoma State center Kaylee Jensen was named to the women’s basketball Preseason All-Big 12 Team. Jensen, a senior from Genoa, Neb., made the All-Big 12 First Team last season, leading the conference with 18.7 points and 10.5 rebounds per game.

Jensen’s 17 double-doubles also led the Big 12.

Other headlines from the athletic department:

  • The Cowgirl softball team posted its first shutout of the fall season, beating Seminole State to improve to 3-0 in the fall.
