Sean Savoy, his family and the entire Virginia Tech community are grieving about the death of Omar Rogers, who leaves behind two sons.

The brother of the Virginia Tech freshman wide receiver died from being shot five times according to Savoy.

In his honor and to help Rogers’ sons, a GoFundMe page has been created that people can use to help the family in their time of need.

Yesterday, Savoy tweeted out a heartfelt message to his brother, whom he calls his “number 1 fan.”

“Our hearts go out to Sean and his family on the loss of Omar,” Virginia Tech coach Justin Fuente said in a statement on Monday. “Sean is a wonderful young man and I know his teammates and the rest of the Virginia Tech community will be there to support him. We ask that Hokies everywhere keep Sean’s family in their prayers during this difficult time as we all extend our deepest condolences to them.”

Less than 48 hours prior to his brother’s death, Savoy hauled in nine receptions for 139 yards and a touchdown vs. Boston College, which earned him the ACC’s Rookie of the Week award for Week 6.
