Gamecock QB commitment Dakereon Joyner wins South Carolina Mr. Football

South Carolina-Dakereon Joyner

South Carolina quarterback commitment Dakereon Joyner won the state’s Mr. Football Award on Saturday afternoon in Myrtle Beach.

The 4-star from Fort Dorchester High School (North Charleston, S.C.) will enroll at South Carolina next month.

The Gamecocks haven’t had a Mr. Football since wide receiver Shaq Rolad took home the award in 2011. Roland was the fourth in a run on South Carolina players at the position, which began with Stephon Gilmore (2008) and continued with Marcus Lattimore (2009) and Jadeveon Clowney (2010).
