Former Michigan State sharpshooter Bryn Forbes has been looking like a real piece for the Spurs lately, averaging 11.3 points per game over his last three games and sinking the winning shot on Saturday in a 104-101 win over the Suns.
Forbes threw out some more fireworks after the game, dropping a bold prediction with Cody Tucker of the Lansing State Journal.
“National champions,” Forbes smiled. “I am going to be the first one to say it. We are winning the national championship.”
You can’t blame Forbes for picking this season to be bold, as the Spartans have been looking nearly unbeatable since their loss to Duke and are in line to be ranked No. 1 this week after losses from top-ranked Duke and No. 2 Kansas. They are also doing things on defense that no one else in the country is doing.
Michigan State has held four Division I teams below 26% on 2-point attempts: DePaul, Nebraska, Rutgers and Southern Utah. No other team has done it more than once.
