Former Louisville Cardinals basketball coach Rick Pitino underwent emergency eye surgery on Wednesday after losing vision in his left eye, according to a report from Danielle Lerner of the Louisville Courier-Journal.
Pitino was at Gulfstream Park in Florida a racehorse he co-owns run when he started experiencing difficulties seeing. At the hospital, they diagnosed him with a detached retina and he was forced to undergo surgery to fix it.
The surgery was reportedly considered successful and Pitino has since returned to the racetrack in protective glasses.
Pitino has been living in Florida since he was fired by Louisville amid an FBI scandal alleging the bribery of recruits. He has not been charged in the FBI investigation, while 10 others have been indicted.
