According to a release from the franchise, the Arizona Cardinals have hired Chris Achuff, who coached Baylor’s defensive line under Art Briles.
Achuff began his tenure at Baylor in 2007, and was retained by the school during the short time Jim Grobe acted as Baylor’s head coach. The most prolific of the former Art Briles assistants, his son, Kendal Briles, was recently hired as Houston’s offensive coordinator after spending a season with Lane Kiffin as Florida Atlantic’s offensive coordinator.
Under Achuff, the entire starting Baylor defensive line won All-Big 12 honors in 2015. Before Achuff was hired at Baylor, he coached at Tennessee-Martin, serving as a hybrid of defensive line and strength coach. He also coached defensive line at Charleston Southern and Chattanooga.
Before breaking into the ranks as a full-time assistant, Achuff was a graduate assistant with Penn State under Joe Paterno.
