Former Arkansas coach Houston Nutt says Chad Morris’ offense should be ‘fun to watch’

Arkansas is going to have a new coach on its sideline next season. And a former Razorbacks coach is certainly excited to see what will happen.

During an appearance on “Sports Talk with Bo Mattingly” on Monday, former Arkansas coach Houston Nutt shared his excitement level to watch the operations of Chad Morris, who was officially introduced as the Razorbacks’ new coach last week.

“I think Arkansas fans are really going to enjoy Chad Morris’ offense,” Nutt told Mattingly. “It’s going to be fun to watch.”

Nutt, who currently works as an analyst for CBS Sports, coached at Arkansas from 1998-2007. During his time leading the Razorbacks, they went 75-48.

Morris was the head coach at SMU for the past three seasons. Prior to that, he was an assistant at Clemson from 2011-14.

While leading SMU, Morris orchestrated a pass-heavy offense, which will probably be something similar to what Razorbacks fans — and Nutt — will be watching next season. Morris is inheriting a returning quarterback with experience in Cole Kelley.

Arkansas fans will have their first opportunity to watch the Morris-led offense during the Razorbacks’ 2018 season opener against Eastern Illinois on Sept. 1.
