The visitor list for Florida State this weekend keeps on growing.
The latest name expected to join the cavalcade of stars currently in Tallahassee is 4-star Franklin [Ga.] Heard County quarterback and current Ohio State pledge Emory Jones.
According to Josh Newberg of Noles247, Jones is currently on a visit to Florida but plans to leave Gainesville and be in Tallahassee by the end of the day and stay overnight.
The news comes as Florida State’s visit list continues to expand — with Jones now being the fourth player among the nation’s top 50 overall prospects who will be on campus.
The Seminoles quarterback board has largely centered around 5-star Justin Fields and 4-star James Foster for a majority of the 2018 cycle. The chatter around Fields has largely died down since he committed to Georgia in October and Foster — who is also considering Alabama, Arizona, Kentucky, LSU and Missouri — isn’t expected to decided until National Signing Day.
Those players were targets of previous coach Jimbo Fisher, but new Seminoles coach Willie Taggart extended an offer to Tampa Bay [Fla.] Tech quarterback Michael Penix, who subsequently reopened his recruitment after being committed to Tennessee. He is also on campus this weekend.
But Jones is a new name to the board altogether. He rates as the nation’s No. 4 dual threat quarterback and the No. 40 player overall in the 2018 cycle.
He has been committed to the Buckeyes since July 2016, but he’s visited schools such as Alabama, Auburn and Florida over the last few weeks.
To make things more interesting, both Jones and Penix are scheduled to be early enrollees and sign in the early signing period.

Florida State is a late entry into the Jones sweepstakes, but there is at least a bit of familiarity between Jones and Taggart. While he was at Oregon, Taggart offered Jones in April, as detailed by his 247Sports timeline.
When it comes to the 6-foot-2.5, 195-pound Peach State standout’s skill-set, his fit in Taggart’s offense is intriguing to say the least.
The Seminoles will get the last shot to make an impression on Jones, but will it be enough to win out in his recruitment?
This weekend’s visit could have a lot to do with his final decision.
