“We are adding two great coaches who are also great mentors and great recruiters,” coach Willie Taggart said. “They understand the culture we are creating here at Florida State. Having them here will help make the transition happen much more quickly in the short term, and in the long term they will be fantastic supporters of our student-athletes as we develop them on and off the field at Florida State.”
Pimpleton and Taggart’s relationship dates back to when they were college teammates at Western Kentucky. Then, Pimpleton joined Taggart’s staff at WKU, where he coached the wide receivers. He then coached the running backs for Taggart when he was the head coach at South Florida and Oregon.
Woodie also played at Western Kentucky and has previous experience coaching under Taggart at each stop he’s made as head coach – Western Kentucky, South Florida and Oregon. Last season at Oregon, Woodie served as special teams coordinator.
Under Pimpleton, South Florida set many rushing records on its way to a program-best 11-2 record. In 2017, Woodie coached the Oregon special teams to a program record in average kicking yards per return.
