It’s been a struggle for the Florida State offense since losing starting quarterback Deondre Francois. But in the first half against Duke, freshman James Blackman looked as good as he has the entire season.
In the first two quarterback, Blackman completed 10 of 12 passes for 98 yards and a touchdown. He also had 10 rushing yards on 3 attempts.
The freshman signal caller could have easily had more as well. In the final two minutes of the half, he completed a beautiful 36-yard pass to the Duke 13-yard line on third-and-9. But the officials called back the play because of an ineligible man downfield penalty. Duke forced Florida State to punt after a short completion on third down.
