Florida State has grand plans for luxurious new football facility

If Jimbo Fisher had only been more patient with Florida State before bolting for Texas A&M and a big pile of money, he may have been rewarded with exactly what he wanted.

Fisher clashed with Florida State brass over the university’s lack of commitment to spending on the football program. He wanted more money for assistants and a new football facility and now it appears that a gigantic new facility is already in the works for new coach Willie Taggart.

According to a report from UrbanTallahassee.com, Florida State has designs on a new football operations facility they’ll be squeezing into land that currently serves as a parking lot between the practice facility and Stadium Dr. The building would be 155,000 sq. ft. and will require between $75 million and $85 million in fundraising from the boosters.

That sort of fundraising effort will take a significant amount of time, so there’s no current timeline for when the project would begin let alone be finished. However, the timing of the announcement is interesting given the back and forth between Florida State and Fisher since his departure.

Fisher has continued to be critical of Florida State and, while this plan may have been set in motion already, it certainly feels like this new facility is being planned in an effort to prove him wrong.
