3-star DE Patrick Joyner watches Hurricanes practice

One player Florida State will have to battle to keep on its commit list down the stretch is 3-star defensive end Patrick Joyner.

The Homestead [Fla.] South Dade pass rusher committed to Florida State in April.

However, Miami offered a month later and has aggressively recruited the 6-foot-2 1/2, 209-pound standout since then.

According to Andrew Ivins of InsideTheU, Joyner was among a handful of recruits who visited Miami on Sunday to watch the Hurricanes practice just a day after it’s comeback win over the Seminoles.

It’s the second consecutive weekend Joyner has showed up on Miami’s campus and the third time since September.

The nation’s No. 53 weakside defensive end and the No. 900 player overall in the 2018 cycle per 247Sports is a versatile player who could be an outside linebacker or defensive end in Florida State’s scheme, if the Seminoles are able to hold onto him.

The Hurricanes are trying to build momentum with Joyner and getting him on campus is a positive step in the right direction in their efforts to flip him from their hated rivals. For the Seminoles to hold on to Joyner, the first step involves getting him back to Tallahassee in the near future.
