Defensive back Asante Samuel is a crucial member of Florida State’s 2018 recruiting class. And given Jimbo Fisher’s departure and several former commits opting to play elsewhere, Willie Taggart has a tough job on his hands in the near future.
Taggart visited Samuel this weekend, and based on the latter’s comments, it seems as though things went great.
“He’s a great guy,” Samuel said. “He’s real in everything you see. Felt real comfortable with him and all the players. … I saw a lot of players really buying into everything Coach Taggart is saying. It’s changing for the better. This a big visit and impact visit for me.
“It was my first time seeing him around the players. It was really good.”
Samuel is a 4-star prospect and the No. 39 player in the country, according to Rivals. Florida State could really use a playmaker like him in the secondary – especially once Derwin James departs.
