Florida State commit recruiting star QB prospect Justin Field to flips to Seminoles

In the week since Florida State named Willie Taggart its new head coach, the Seminoles’ recruiting situation has improved drastically.

When Jimbo Fisher left Tallahassee to take the head coaching job at Texas A&M, several Florida State recruits backed out of their commitments. Taggart has shorn up several of those prospects, such as 4-star cornerback Amari Gainer. Plus, Taggart has flipped several other recruits who were initially committed elsewhere.

Gainer has dubbed the movement “flip season,” and he’s looking for the momentum to continue. He’s shooting big, too.

Always active on Twitter, Gainer tweeted Sunday at Georgia quarterback commit Justin Fields, the No. 1 ranked signal caller and top overall player in the country according to ESPN, and said “you next.” Fields, from Harrison High School in Kennesaw, Georgia, was targeted by Florida State prior to his commitment to Georgia on October 6.

There has been speculation that Taggart could get the Seminoles back in the conversation for Fields. Even if Florida State can’t sway Fields, however, the team could be in the mix to flip a different quarterback. Earlier Sunday, Taggart extended an offer to 3-star Tennessee commit Michael Penix.
