Florida State sustained another key injury to its offense during a loss to the Louisville Cardinals on Saturday. But with a short week and a bowl appearance pretty much on the line, there’s no time for the Seminoles to wallow in their sorrows.
It’s next man up. And that man is sophomore Amir Rasul.
“First of all, I’m extremely sorry that Jacques went down, but it’s time for me to step up,” Rasul said during Tuesday according to Orlando Sentinel. “I’m extremely grateful. Jacques is in my prayers, but now it’s time for me to pick up and do what I have to do.”
Rasul is a former 4-star prospect from Coral Gables, Fla. and has 26 yards on 7 carries along with 2 catches and 12 more yards this season. He says he hopes to bring “a lot of speed, a lot of power and a lot of tenacity.”
Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher said he wanted to get Rasul more involved this season. Now is his chance.
“We have great confidence in him,” Fisher said of Rasul earlier this season according to The Orlando Sentinel. “I have said it all along, he’s going to be a huge part of what we do.”
