Fans more than ready for West Virginia, Marshall to reunite in NCAA Tournament

West Virginia-Marshall-West Virginia Basketball-West Virginia Mountaineers-NCAA

West Virginia and Marshall basketball once made for an incredible college basketball rivalry series in the state of West Virginia.

The annual meeting between the in-state rivals, the two campuses less than 200 miles apart from each other, came to an end three years ago. But now, thanks to an upset of 4-seed Wichita State for the Marshall’s first NCAA Tournament victory program-history, the 5-seeded Mountaineers and 13-seeded Thundering Herd are set to take the same court for the 45th time.

And they’ll do so with stakes raised to new heights — all the way across the nation in San Diego, Calif., in the NCAA Tournament, and with a trip to the Sweet Sixteen on the line.

And the matchup that will see Bob Huggins go up against Dan D’Antoni is creating plenty of hype, from America’s Finest City all the way back to the country roads.

Here are some of the reactions when it was learned that West Virginia and Marshall would be going head-to-head in round two of the 2018 NCAA Tournament.

And of course, watch out for all of those burning couches.

The game-time on Sunday for Marshall and West Virginia is to be announced.
