Fans, media puzzled after Texas Tech stays idle in latest AP Top 25 poll

Fans Media puzzled-Texas Tech stays idle in top 25 rankings

Texas Tech men’s basketball didn’t get much love from the AP voters on Monday, staying put at No. 7 in the AP Top 25 rankings despite a week that featured two double-digit victories for the Red Raiders.

Texas Tech took care of business against Iowa State at home in a 76-58 win last Wednesday before posting a 66-47 victory on the road vs. Kansas State on Saturday.

Needless to say, fans and experts had quite a few thoughts to offer regarding the latest poll.

Here’s a glimpse of what the scene on social media looked like after the latest rankings were revealed:

Texas Tech returns to action on Tuesday for a top-25 showdown with No. 23 Oklahoma in Lubbock. The Sooners remained in the top 25 despite currently riding a three-game losing streak and losing six of their last eight games. Tip-off for the contest is set for 6 p.m. CT at United Supermarkets Arena.

And a Red Raiders triumph over Trae Young and co. might just be the first step in the team earning the respect that it didn’t get this week when the next poll is released on Feb. 19.

Texas Tech has now been featured in top 10 of the AP Top 25 rankings five times this season — the most ever for the team within a single season.
