Fan Sound Off: Kentucky loses; could Mark Stoops’ job be in jeopardy?

Kentucky was brought back to earth in Week 8 after taking a 45-7 beating by Mississippi State on Saturday in Starville.

Mark Stoops, who was the darling of Lexington as the Wildcats began the season 5-1, is beginning to hear whispers about his job security — whether they’re warranted or not.

Kentucky managed just 260 yards of total offense, including 117 through the air by quarterback Stephen Johnson. The senior also threw a pair of interceptions.

Needless to say, there’s some unease in the Blue Grass State on Saturday night.

Check out what Kentucky fans are saying about the performance and  join the conversation here.

George White:  Pitiful the defense took the whole game off. They just too a couple plays here and there against Florida, et al. Pitiful. Fitzgerald did a tremendous job.

Sherry Free:  Run the ball when your down in the fourth quarter. Makes sense to me!!!!! Yikes!

Todd Burgess:  F I R E S T O O P S!!!

Patsy Smith:  Waiting on Kentucky to show up.

Jeff Roark:  13 point spread covered no problem. SMH.

Martha Burns:  No defense!

Tom Denington:  UK was awful.

George Cox:  Kentucky and Tennessee have a lot in common. They both got beat 45-7, neither has a real football coach and their Athletic Directors are . . . . I’ll just stop there.

Sam Releigh:  Horrible Stoops go away please. You got a favorable schedule, you had a bye week and they still came out flat. I know fire another assistant because Lord knows you don’t.

Preston Conley:  Sometimes you got to give credit to the other team but with that said and coming off bye week that was embarrassment performance.

Doug Gash:  This should be no surprise to anyone they have been playing terrible against bad teams all year. Weak offense line all year and today terrible defense. It’s going to be a struggle to win anymore games.

Bradley Gossett:  Yeah bring a different QB in to spark an offense down what 31 and hand it off lets use Bowden like we did Cobb hell Mikey Roark beat Tennessee and hadn’t played QB in years. And lets remember to pack the tackling on our next rd. Game forget the towels maybe.

Malcom Fogle:  All of you people saying fire stoops. Name one coach who is better than him and would coach at Kentucky?

Mike Morgan:  Reading some of the comments, it’s even more depressing than the lost, I just don’t understand the lack of support win or lose, I sure will have my UK Football shirt on tomorrow and the decal is always on my car just like the basketball decal, no win only fan here, very proud of the Cats, because I truly bleed blue.
